On December 7th,2007 last year, representatives from three different sectors —academia, industry, and government— gathered for an informal discussion on “Co-development of University and Industry.”
Participants were the vice-minister of the Ministry of Education and HRD (Human Resources Development), the vice-minister of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, 5 CEOs from industrial organizations, and the top-level officials of KCUE.
The meeting was the 2nd session followed by the 1st gathering held on May 10th, when they discussed “Strategies for Strengthening Competitiveness of Higher Education.”
Secretary General of KCUE KIM Young Shik presented “Scheme for Introducing University Evaluation from the Perspective of Industrial Circles,” which is the advanced version of “University Evaluation from the Perspective of Industrial Circles” discussed at the first meeting. The original version was developed by the T/F Team jointly-composed by KCUE and 5 industrial organizations.
After discussion on the presented scheme, KCUE and the industrial organizations agreed to actively co-work for the promotion of “University Evaluation from the Perspective of Industrial Circles” with a view to resolving the problem of ‘Skill Mismatch’ between university education and industry.
