Son Pyŏngdu, President of Sŏgang University, was inaugurated as the 14th Chairman of the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE) on Tuesday, April 8th in the central lounge of KCUE headquarters; he will serve as chairman for two years from April 8, 2008 to April 7, 2010.

Presidents from KCUE member universities and officials from the government and other relevant organizations attended the inauguration ceremony.

These included former KCUE Chairman Cho Wan-gyu (also a former president of Seoul National University and a former minister of education), Yi Kŏl-u from the Office for Academic Research Policies in the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, Chairman Yi Wŏnhŭi of the Korean Federation of Teachers’ Associations, Shin Sŏng-gyun from the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation, Yi Sut’aek from the National Institute for International Education Development, and Chairman Cho Yong-gi from the Korean Association for University Foundation.
