2012-4-6: Inauguration of 18th Chairman of KCUE

In Suk Hamm, president of Kyungpook National University (KNU), was inaugurated as the 18th Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Korean Council for University Education. He succeeds the 17th Chairman Young-Gil Kim, who has reached the end of his term. President Hamm will serve as chairman until April 5, 2013.
President Hamm is the president of KNU and has served in this position since September, 2010. He is also currently a member of Congress of Neurological Surgeons in US and a director of Korea Study Society.
In his inauguration address, President Hamm emphasized the need for communication and cooperation among member universities. "It is critical to practice what is agreed among universities in enhancing the value of universities that are responsible for the future of young generation who will lead our country through higher education and gaining public trust. We should keep in mind that member universities communicate and cooperate with each other based on a consensus." he said.
Also attending the inauguration were Minister of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology Jo-Ho Lee, Chairman of the National Branding Committee Bae-Yong Lee, and numerous university presidents and heads of education related organizations.
